You made it happen!

Stanford’s first-ever Day of Giving was a celebration of community and generosity

For 36 hours on May 14 and 15, the Cardinal community came together to provide record-breaking support through the university’s inaugural Day of Giving campaign. This special event rallied alumni, students, faculty, and friends from across the globe around a common goal: to support the future of Stanford and its mission to educate and inspire.

In its first year, Stanford Day of Giving achieved remarkable success, with the community uniting to raise an astounding $10.2 million through 5,525 gifts.

The campaign featured a generous dollar-for-dollar match from Stanford Board of Trustees members Roberta Denning, ’75, MBA ’78; Marc Lipschultz, ’91; and José E. Feliciano, MBA ’99, and his wife, Kwanza Jones. Donors responded enthusiastically, and the full $3 million match was exhausted hours before Day of Giving ended.

There were also dozens of fun challenges, through which participants unlocked additional funds for programs across the university by doing things like completing a special Day of Giving crossword puzzle, submitting a Strava art map, or finding a hidden Stanford Tree plushie on campus. The challenges added excitement and fun and provided opportunities to participate beyond making a monetary donation.

Students on campus joined in the Day of Giving fun as well, enjoying an open tab and  Generosi-TEA at On Call Cafe, making Stanford crafts at the Swag-a-ganza event, and searching campus (and even up to the Dish) during the Tree-sure Hunt.

A special thank you to our many ambassadors, who went above and beyond to support the campaign by spreading the word and engaging their networks to participate. And to our entire community, no matter how you participated, thank you for being a part of this exciting campaign. See you next year!
